I wish I had the space to highlight each member and their individual contributions, but I will keep it brief and say how grateful I am to have worked with some of my dearest friends and talented driven designers.
My role as Art Director was to help build and implement the visual identity. This included everything from sourcing furniture on Facebook Marketplace to creating mood boards, hanging posters, motion work, screen printing, working on the logotype, laying out the store, building and executing the SKU system, etc.
My primary focus was typography and the secondary type system. Sophia, our Creative Director, and I both wanted to explore a script logotype to bring a refined feel to the store. Sophia used AI exploration and then her own refinement to establish the initial direction, passing the logotype to myself and Bruce. After many rounds of iteration and glyph refinement, we arrived at the final logotype used for Curio.
